Kathleen Ann Hayes Bikker, born May 30, 1941, passed away on August 13, 2016. She lived with her mother and sister, Helen. Her father died in his own airplane crash when she had just turned 4 years old, and she appreciated the remarkable example of her mother to be both Mom & Dad - who made sure her needs were met and talents expanded.
Kathy, as she was called, was an Honored Queen in Job’s Daughters, attended 1 year of college at Colorado University, married her high school sweetheart, and enjoyed being a mother of 5 children, and grandmother.
Kathy converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 30, 1968, and she has enjoyed many callings in the Church. She also enjoyed volunteer work in the community, including teaching adults to read, helping in the well-child clinic, Red Cross, Base Thrift Shop, school helper, etc. She served a 23 month mission with her husband to Indonesia from 2005 - 2006.
Hobbies included extensive journal work and genealogy. She enjoyed reading - often making her own “index” in the back of the book to identify her favorite parts or her own insight.
Her testimony of Jesus Christ and her love for her husband, Art and their children are her prized possessions.
She is survived by her husband; children, Brian, David, Kerri, Rhonda, and Eric; 17 grandchildren; and sister, Helen Brown. She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Lea Hayes.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4955 Meadowland Boulevard. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will follow at 9:30 am on Friday at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
