Katelynn Ann Hunemuller passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016. She was 28 years old. Katelynn was born in Colorado Springs on June 2, 1988 to Kristy Hunemuller and Raymond Hill II. She graduated from Pine Creek High School in 2006 and went on to graduate from Colorado College with a Bachelor of Arts in art history and cultural anthropology.
Katy loved art and it was the driving force in her life. Mentored and encouraged by her grandfather she created many incredible pieces and her work was sought after by local galleries. Katy most recently worked at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center and taught art at the Bemis School there. Always looking for adventure, she left the art world this summer and started bartending at Union Station. There she met and touched the lives of many in the Colorado Springs motorcycle community and began a love affair with riding after meeting the man she would later become engaged to.
Family was everything to Katy. All her life, her mother was her best friend. She adored her little brother Ryan and protected him like a mother hen. Her grandparents were her favorite two people in the entire world and Katy could often be found stopping by their house just to hang out with them and her uncles. While she couldn’t often see them, Katy loved her brother and sister, Daniel and Kelly, dearly and tried to communicate with them often.
Katy’s final months were the happiest of her young life. After meeting Carl, they quickly fell in love. In November they became engaged and bought a house together. Carl shared his love of motorcycles and riding with Katy and she quickly became a beloved member of the motorcycle community. When she passed, she was deep into planning their wedding and dreaming of the future they had planned together.
Katy is survived by her mother Kristy Hunemuller, father Raymond Hill II, brothers Ryan Hunemuller and Daniel Johnston, sister Kelly Johnston, grandparents Wendell and Linda Hunemuller, her uncles Mark and Brian Hunemuller, her aunt Kim Harris and her fiancé Carl Smith. She is preceded in death by her uncle Brad Hunemuller and her great uncle Owen Belville. Katy will be cremated and a memorial service will be announced shortly.
Katy you are free now. On earth you were always an angel to everyone you knew. You brought a beauty and a light to a dark world that didn’t deserve you. Fly now with the angels, our sweet love.
