Julius (Jay) Leonard Denning was born on January 11, 1925 in Ogallah, Kansas to Prudentuis J. & Barbara (Windholz) Denning. Jay was Retired Military (Army) and had served from 1945 – 1971 in Artillery. Jay had served two tours in Vietnam and had been awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for Valor and 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Infantry Man Badge, Air Medal w/5 Oaks Leaf Clusters and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/ Silver Palm. Jay married Marge Konzekwa Denning on June 19th, 2010. Jay’s occupation continued after Retirement as an Archivist in Special Collections @ USAFA Cadet Library. Jay was a devoted member of St. Josephs Catholic Church since 1967 and was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a Lector. He was a member of the International Society of Ports and the International Dance Club and Jay was an avid Denver Bronco’s Fan.
Jay is survived by his wife, Marge; his children, Bruce L. (Carol) Denning, Karolyn (Larry) Connell, Ilka Denning, Gloria (Mike) Miller, Gordon (Paula) Denning and his brother, Louis Denning.
Jay is preceded in death by parents; his wife, Emmy Tschampel Denning and eleven brothers and sisters.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 from 5-7pm with Rosary at 7pm with a Funeral Mass Service on Friday, February 11th, 2011 at 10:00am. All will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A reception and lunch will immediately follow the service. The burial will take place at 1:30pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
