With no immune system to fight off a blood infection and an infection in her legs, with a very hard fight, her beautiful heart finally gave out on January 20, 2015. She was born in Hydro, Oklahoma on October 17, 1930. As a child she lived in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico, graduating from Tucumcari NM High School.
Juanita is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Wayne Pedersen, two children, Russell Poitevent and Linda Main, and three step children, Cynthia Cestkowski, Chris Pedersen and Cathy Fielder. She is also survived by one brother and two sisters.
Juanita retired in 1990 from the US Civil Service with the Air Force and served her country admirably for over 20 years.
She had a passion for water color painting and sold many of her paintings.
Juanita has lived in Colorado Springs for 30 years and was a very active golfer playing with the Eisenhower Women’s Golf Association where she had a lot of great friends. Over the 30 years she was very active in two different Lutheran Church congregations and bible study groups. She was the Historian for the Pikes Peak Rollers for 11 years, which is a group of motorhome owners with more than 40 members.
Swan Law Funeral Directors at 501 North Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO, 80903 is handling the funeral arrangements. An open coffin viewing will be at 10 am on Monday, January 26, 2015, at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 675 West Baptist Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80921. A Celebration of Life Service will follow the viewing at 11:00am at the church. Burial will be private at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
