Joe served in the United States Navy from 1949-1952. He was very patriotic. He loved the Military Services and he loved his country. He was a machinist by trade and he spent his life’s work in this industry. He has worked for Loud’s Aircraft Maintenance Company, Otis Elevator Company, Kaiser Steel, and Southern California Edison Company.
Joe married Annette Hodell on June 22, 1957. They enjoyed 61 years of married life together. Together they had 6 children; Joe Graff, Jr., Paul Graff, Leanne Graff, Patty (Graff) Henderson, John Graff and Gerard Graff (deceased). Dad has now joined the communion of saints that have gone on before him, including his youngest child, Gerard. He is survived by his wife, Annette, their 5 oldest children, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Joe was very active in the Boy Scouts when his children were growing up. He loved camping and hiking. He also loved fishing. He played on a bowling league when his children were young. Later, he was involved in volunteering at church and he was a member of the B.P.O.E. (Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks). After retirement, he volunteered with the Ontario Police Department as a Senior Patrol volunteer (S.P.O.T. = Seniors Patrolling Our Town). He was recognized by President George W. Bush; and, he received a prestigious award from the President’s hand for his many hours as a Senior Patrol volunteer.
Joe, currently, was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He received his 3rd degree, days before he went home to be with the Lord.
Joe was a devoted husband and father. He had a humorous side and was always joking and teasing. He lived well and loved well. He will be missed by his family and friends.
