He was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on June 27th, 1948, the first child of four to the late John and Marion Ingram of Charleston, West Virginia. He was deeply loved and will be missed.
John, after graduating from East Fairmont High School in 1968, enlisted in the United States Air Force. John was a decorated Veteran, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam, volunteering for the second term flying the Ho Chi Men trail. While in the service he met his first wife, Debbie. Sadly, she passed shortly after they were married. Thereafter, while stationed overseas, he met his second wife Helga Frisch of Memmingen, Germany. He and Helga traveled the world together and they shared many wonderful adventures. They fell in love with Colorado and ultimately settled in Monument where they lived out their days taking long walks, collecting rocks and enjoying all that the area has to offer. One of their favorite places to visit was Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO.
Although they did not have any children, John and Helga adored their dogs: Leo, Fred, Lumpi, Peaches and Izzy, all of whom preceded them in death. Helga departed this life in February 2014 and in the years following her passing, John devoted his time to supporting and volunteering for animal rescue organizations. He loved volunteering with the Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region and he was a proud supporter of many other organizations, including but not limited to: the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Colorado Springs, CO, and the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue in Frederick, MD.
