Joe C. Wallace (83), a Colorado Springs native since his birth on May 3, 1931, died in Colorado Springs on April 12, 2015 after a brief illness.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ruth McBurney Wallace.

Joe was an active and lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Colorado Springs and a dedicated Colorado Springs School District 11 employee for 32 years, first as an elementary teacher and then an elementary school principal.
Before pursuing a lifelong career as an educator and administrator, Joe attended Steele Elementary, North Junior High, and Colorado Springs High School before earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
As an avid train buff, Joe spent his time as part of a local railroad history group and enjoyed driving across the Colorado countryside to “spot” certain engines as they moved down the railroad tracks. He was active in a District 11 retiree group called “The Good Guys” and enjoyed monthly gatherings to catch up with colleagues. He was a First United Methodist Church volunteer and longstanding member of the Berean Sunday School Class. Joe was a life member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed talking about guns, ammo, old cars, and trains of all types. When he wasn’t in town, he liked to spend time in Arizona as a “snowbird,” and always enjoyed Colorado Springs history and sharing stories and jokes with friends and family alike.
Joe enjoyed a good life and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, April 17, 2015 @ 2:00pm, at First United Methodist Church, 420 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.
