Jimmy Lea Perry

Jimmy was born on September 14th, 1944 on the family farm in Marquez, TX to Mary & James Payne - she was the first of six children. Growing up in a military family, she recalled moving frequently, between Texas, Georgia, Japan & finally Colorado.

Graduating in 1962 from Widefield High School with Honors, Jimmy began working as an Office Secretary for Metropolitan Life Insurance. Throughout her nearly four decade career with MetLife, she made several lifelong friends to include Dianne Frey & Jerry Holsinger; while finally retiring as one of their most distinguished Office Managers.

Jimmy had the privilege of having four children & would often comically recount the stories of a single motherhood with teenagers. Her family can fondly recall memories of her many Scrabble victories, Pinochle & Poker Nights, trips to Cripple Creek, & bingo outings with her sisters.

Anybody who knew Jimmy was witness to her intelligence, clever spirit, & frequent laughter partnered with a glowing smile. She showed us all that no matter what challenges life had in store, her tenacity to overcome was matched only by her unwavering love & selflessness for her family.

Jimmy leaves behind her loving children: Chana Duncan, Matthew Perry, & Jayme Young; precious grandchildren: Jessie & Evan, Stephan & Caleb, & Brianna; & five siblings: Thomas, Larry, Veronica, Joy & Randy. She is preceded in death by her father James Payne, mother Mary Payne, son Shawn Perry & dear friends Dianne Frey & Shirley Davis.

Jimmy’s final wishes will be honored by her immediate family in a private Celebration of Life for her birthday later this year.
