Janet Marie Smith

Jan Smith 67 of Colorado Springs passed away February 13, 2012 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was a long-time employee of the Pikes Peak Library District where she worked as a library technician. Her illness forced her to retire in 2008 after more than 20 years of service.

Jan was the daughter of Giles and Hazel Kise. She graduated Madison High School in Minnesota and attended Augustana College in South Dakota.

Jan is survived by her husband Don, sons Paul and Mike, daughter-in-law Kasie (Mike), and grandson Jack, She was preceded in death by her parents and one great nephew.

Jan tremendously enjoyed working at the library and being able to spend time in downtown Colorado Springs. She loved her ability to be able to sing in the choir at First Lutheran Church, was an avid reader and an even more avid Broncos fan.

A public viewing will be held at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue from 4-7 PM on Friday, February17, 2012.

The memorial service for Jan will be held at First Lutheran Church, 1515 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 18, 2012.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
