Dr. Janet L. Harris, 89 years old, a hypnotherapist, died peacefully, June 2, 2022, at her home in Colorado Springs, CO attended by family. The funeral will be held at Springs Community Church, Lexington and Woodmen, with Pastor Eric Carpenter officiating.
Janet was born March 18, 1933 in Harrisburg, PA, to Elmer and Mary Shaeffer. She was married March 8, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland to Gary E. Harris, who preceded her in death. They were married 57 years.
She is survived by her sister, Natalie; three sons, Richard, David, and Robert; her daughter, Patricia; 12 grandchildren (6 boys and 6 girls), and 15 great-grandchildren (8 boys and 7 girls and another boy on the way!); and numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
Janet worked at and retired from the phone company where she worked for over 17 years in both Maryland and in Colorado. Before she retired in 1994, she received her B.A. in 1988, her masters in 1993 in Agency Counseling, 1993-1995 becoming nationally certified in hypnotherapy, and after retiring, she received her doctorate in hypnotherapy in 1997. She practiced a short time until our father, Gary, retired soon after. She officially retired then as well so they could travel.
Janet loved to travel, read, garden, be with her family and friends; she had great faith, loved her pets, never stopped learning, was interested in every-thing, and still didn’t know what she wanted to do when she grew up. 89 years was just too short. She loved life! She will be greatly missed.
