Born in Milton, Massachusetts, March 15, 1931 to James Merritt and Pauline Bedee (Lyman) Blenkhorn.
Jane married Ed Shapleigh on September 4, 1948 in Bangor, Maine. Their marriage spanned almost 62 years.
Jane created an exciting working career in Human Resources, Accounting, Office and Retail Management in Europe and literally across the U.S. She volunteered at USAF Hospitals and locally at Penrose Community.
During husband Ed’s military service, Jane was active in Officers Club activities, serving on boards and several Bases.
Jane was an AVID sports fan with a participating interest in bowling and golf. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Clubs at Patty Jewett and Valley Hi courses; again serving on club boards. Jane volunteered at several Castle Pines Golf Invitational tournaments. She also enjoyed spending time playing bridge and reading, especially the works of John Grisham.
Jane was the Mother of four wonderful children; Ruth Sansing, Jim Shapleigh, Ted Shapleigh and Jen Archuleta. Her children are responsible for many beloved Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Jane was an ardent patriot, a devoted Anglican and member of the Southern Colorado order of the Princesses of the Nile.
Jane valued her family and life-long friendships; working timelessly to promote and support the love for all, leaving wonderful memories.
Her parting words would be “Thanks and love to ALL, it’s been a FANTASTIC trip!”
A celebration of Jane’s life will be Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery. Military burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please give SPECIAL thanks to ALL the loving care Jane received from Brookdale Monument Valley Senior Living Community and Pikes Peak Hospice.
