He was a native of Colorado Springs, CO and a true “Westsider” born to Daniel (Danny) and Margaret (Peggy) Rogers. He attended Sacred Heart School from first to eighth grade and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1966. Jim played sports in school and enjoyed being active throughout his life.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in 1970, he joined the Air Force and spent four years serving his country in Alaska. Returning to Colorado in 1974, he began his career working for the State of Colorado – Division of Youth Services. Jim spent his career of 30 years working to make things better for young people who had made mistakes in their lives.
Retiring in 2004, he finally had time to do more fishing with friends, which was one of his favorite activities. Spoiling his grandchildren filled his life with much happiness and he spent time with them at home and at our place in the mountains near Creede, CO. He loved the Colorado mountains.
Jim leaves behind his wife Sharon (Glass) of 56 years, two children Dan (Sherrie) and Cherie (Shawn) and four grandchildren, Dylan (Ariel) and Sheridan Rogers and Raven and Stone Sanchez. He was blessed with two great grandchildren, Stella and Charlie. He also leaves behind his sisters, Karen and Patti, who were a very special part of his life, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Jim was preceded in death by his mom and dad and his brother Mike.
Family and friends are invited to a “Celebration of Life” on November 15th at 10:00 at Sacred Heart Church at 2030 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO.
