James "Jim" Messina passed away October 19, 2016 at his home of 32 years. Taken too soon, Jim passed away at the young age of 63. Jim was a loving husband, father, son, brother and most recently a grandfather. His family was the most important thing to him and this is evident by all that knew him.
Jim was born in Thibodaux, LA. to Anthony Frank and Janie Virginia Messina on August 27, 1953. He lived most of his childhood in Texas City, TX, where he could be found on any baseball field. After graduating high school and marrying the love of his life Vicki, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on May 30, 1972. Before his honorable discharge in 1977, Jim and Vicki welcomed their only child, Shawna. Jim worked in civil service on the Air Force Academy from 1978 until his retirement in 2003. During that time he earned his Bachelor and Master Degrees, one of his proudest achievements.
Jim was known for his hobbies, which included: playing golf, hunting, targeting shooting, and fishing. He was passionate about his cowboy art, karaoke and being a BBQ master . Though his fondest times were spent playing with his 3 grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years of marriage, Vicki, daughter, Shawna, son-in-law, Chris Ford, grandchildren, Landon, Corbin and Brooklynn, brother, Frank (Robin), Patrick (Amy) and Joseph (Cathy) Messina, nieces, Tiffany and Katrina, nephews, Paul and Patrick.
Jim is preceded in passing by his parents Anthony and Janie Messina, brothers, Charles and John Messina.
