James L. Hurd, “Jim”, passed away suddenly on October 24. Jim was born in San Francisco, CA to Wayman and Dorothy Hurd on June 23, 1941 and soon moved to Colorado’s western slope living in the small communities surrounding Grand Junction. He received a BS in Accounting from CSU where he met his wife, Ann Hurd, on his first day on campus. The two were married June 17, 1962. They moved to Colorado Springs where Jim worked as a CPA ultimately opening his own practice. He formed many long-time friendships with clients, served on many service and charity organization boards, coached Little League Baseball, and was active in his church.
Jim was the kind of man we all want for a friend, husband, or father. He was easy to be around, kind, loving, funny, generous, and loyal. Family was Jim’s number one priority. You could find him at any one of his kids’ or grandkids’ events, or making a lasting impact on his community.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Ann Hurd and leaves behind his 3 children, Linda (Alex) Herrera, David (Stephanie) Hurd, Kristi (Chris) McCleary and 7 grandchildren whom he adored: Katy and Lexie Herrera, Sophia and Olivia Hurd, Kaylee (Dustin) Stotler, Cammeron, and Carsten McCleary.
A memorial service will be held November 5, 2021 at 2pm, in the Stone Chapel at Woodmen Valley Chapel, 280 E. Woodmen Rd., Colorado Springs, CO.
