James was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, May 23, 1958.
After graduation he attended the Colorado Institute of Art. He worked as a graphic designer and real estate broker before moving to California.
While in California he pursued his passion to develop a higher spiritual awareness and in 2016 graduated from the University of Santa Monica with a Master in Spiritual Psychology.
He was an active member of MSIA-Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness. MSIA is to teach Soul Transcendence, which is becoming aware of yourself as a Soul and as one with God.
James was a sweet and lovely soul that enlightened and delighted everyone he touched.
All were drawn to his light-hearted, witty and fun-loving nature.
He enjoyed art of all kinds and was creative and artistic on his own merit.
He had a gift that made you feel special and loved and that was a gift to us from him. His kind spirit will live with us always.
Preceding him in death were his father, Charles M. Burton and his older brother Robert M. Burton.
He leaves behind his loving mother, Betty M. Burton-Dumler, three sisters, Barbara J. Bennett, Diana S. Collins, and Donna M. Gissel, nephews, Keegan, Kris, Matt, Jeff, nieces, Leslie, Carrie, Julie, Mindy, Amie. He had many more relatives and wonderful friends. Family and friends were cherished and loved and were so very important in his life.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, May 24 at 11:00 am at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs.
