Herbert J Toft, affectionately known as "Herbie" passed away peacefully at his home on March 28, 2013. He was a life long resident of Colorado Springs, residing in Black Forest for many years. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Nel and Hazel Toft, and his seven siblings. He is survived by one son, George Robert "Bob"Toft (wife Donelle), two grandchildren, Jordan and Aaron, his long time friend and companion, Phyllis DeAngelo, and several nieces and nephews. After proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, Herb subsequently retired from a career with Mountain Bell. Herb will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, old cars and trucks, working crossword puzzles, gardening, spending time with his beloved and faithful dog, "Moose", and his razor sharp wit, which never left him in spite of his failing health. Herbie will be missed by all who knew him. May he forever rest in peace... A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, beginning at 1:00 pm, at the Eastenville Cemetery, 12558 Merridian Rd., Elbert, CO 80908. A reception will follow from 2:30-5 pm. at the Black Forest Chapel, 14190 Black Forest Rd., Black Forest, CO 80908. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given in Herb's honor to Pikes Peak Hospice, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill St., Colorado Springs, CO 80906. The family would like to thank Pikes Peak Hospice and bEOpersonalcare for providing the professional and caring staff during Herb's lengthy illness.
