Herbert Mabie

Herbert William Mabie was born on October 25, 1927, to parents Claude and Lucille Mabie in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather, to more than 80 children.

Herbert was a gentle, kind, and compassionate man who had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. He was a family man and loved nothing more than to have everyone together. Herbert loved cooking, almost as much as he loved eating; he mastered the art of breakfast omelets, his famous popcorn balls, and chocolate and peanut butter fudge. Herbert and Louise were spontaneous in nature and enjoyed many things, to include fishing, camping, and vacationing with family.

Herbert is retired civil service, then went on to work as a night custodian with Widefield District 3 for several years.

He married Louise Maybon on June 14, 1954 and were married for 54 joyous, affectionate years. He was an amazing father to 9 children, sons: Herbert (Ruth) Mabie, Aurora. William Mabie, Colorado Springs. Daughters: Deborah (Steve) Matthews, Colorado Springs. Janet (Greg) Walters, Fountain. Becky (Paul) Foster, Pueblo. Amy (Brian) Bell, Rapid City. Dannette (Victor) Vialpando, Colorado Springs. Linda (Brian) Fowler, Colorado Springs. Ruth (Stuart) Schwarzman, Colorado Springs. He is survived by his brother, Bob (Kathy) Mabie.

Herbert is preceded in death by his loving Wife Louise, Parents Claude and Lucille Mabie, Sister Nettie Draper, Brother Ernie Mabie, and great grandson Andrew Hassett.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., services will start at 9:00 a.m., at Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Pastor Steve Matthews (grandson).

A committal service will occur Friday, March 3, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A reception will occur Friday, March 3, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Cross and Crowns Church, 4455 Arrowswest Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
