Harry MacDonald Martin, lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on December 25, 2016 at Pikes Peak Hospice at Penrose Hospital after a valiant battle with leukemia. Harry is survived by his wife, Marianne Martin, daughter Elysa Kuo(Andy) and grandsons, Carter and Tyler Kuo.
Harry was born on January 26, 1941 in Colorado Springs to Guy and Mary Jean Martin. He grew up with his brother, Charles Martin(Sharon), who preceded him in death, and his sisters, Jeannie Wilkie(Danny) and Jan Martin.
Harry graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1959 and enjoyed his young adult life working in the family business, Guy Martin Buick, and “ski bumming” as a ski patrol and lift builder at Arapahoe Basin and Ski Broadmoor.
Throughout his 75 years, you could find Harry on the ski slopes, out in a boat, under a hood, or pit-crewing/officiating the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Harry loved his Broncos, his ice cream, and his beloved wife of 48 years, Marianne. His daughter, Elysa, was an additional blessing, as were his grandsons. He found great joy in watching them compete and could often be heard at their sports events.
In later life, Harry spent 20 years volunteering for Pikes Peak Hospice and enjoying his daily breakfast with the Coffee Guys.
The family would like to thank the UCH-Aurora BMT team and Pikes Peak Hospice for their care in his final days.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow, December 29th at 11 AM at St. George’s Anglican Church, 217 E. Pikes Peak Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice or St. George’s Anglican Church.
