She was married to Donald for 59 years who preceded her in death, as well as her 12 brothers and sisters. To this marriage was born two children, Mary Louise Doven (Charles) and Frank Floyd Hooper (Sharan). Mary’s family: Ed (Debbie) and Tori; Peggy (Mark) Zachary and Austin; Gary (Shauna) Jason, Kaitlyn(Bret) and Baby; Frank’s family: Shelly (Jim) and Tabitha; Kelly (Eric) Ashley and Morgan. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Harriet moved to Calhan in the 2nd grade and graduated from Calhan School in 1938. She married Donald Hooper in 1937 in Raton, New Mexico. She was a housewife until 1953. She was one of the founding members of the Calhan Ladies Auxiliary VFW and a member of the Rebekahs. Don and Harriet owned and operated Don’s Motel and Midway Cafe and Hooper’s Trailer Park. They both enjoyed traveling and playing cards. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and playing bridge.
Visitation will be on Wednesday March 12, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Living Word Community Church, in Calhan. Services will be held at Living Word Community Church on Thursday March 13, 2014 at 10:00am, burial will follow at Calhan Cemetery.
