Gwenita Lou (Voll) Robinson

Gwen was born January 21, 1940, in Portland, OR, to Emil and Thurley Voll. Growing up in Gresham, with her brother Richard in a quaint suburb of Portland. She graduated from Parkrose High School in 1957. Gwen went on to Oregon State College where she affiliated with Delta Gamma Sorority. In addition, throughout her lifetime, she was an active member of P.E.O.

In 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, Tommy King. The High School Homecoming Queen and King were blessed with three children, Jeffrey, Jennifer, and Gregory. Together they raised their children in San Diego, CA, building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

In 1991, Gwen remarried Robert “Robby” Robinson and together they moved to Colorado Springs, CO, in 2007 after being in Oceanside, CA, for several years. She was quick to grow roots in Colorado Springs, making close friends with neighbors and church members. Gwen and Robby were honored to sponsor a cadet from the US Airforce Academy, whom they were very proud of.

Gwen was known for her beautiful, warm smile and even larger big brown eyes. She lit up the room when she walked in. She made a point to connect with almost everyone she met. She often prayed for others and did acts of kindness. Gwen always took time to talk, and she remembered every detail of what was shared. Gwen and her longtime friend’s Edie and Gina referred to themselves as the “Golden Girls.” She loved them as family. They were her sisters.

Gwen had a passion for travel including trips with the family to Disneyland. She had many hobbies and was incredibly talented especially when it came to making birdhouses and various holiday decorations. She loved to play card games and was a master Bridge player playing all throughout her life. She and Robby were active members of their local church in both Oceanside and in Colorado Springs. Gwen’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always first in line to hold a baby, or two.

She is survived by her loving children: Jeffrey King and his wife Sheri of Colorado Springs, CO, Gregory King and his wife Alison of Danville, CA, and Jennifer Adams and her husband Randy of Golden Valley, AZ; ten grandchildren Brent King, Bradley King, Brooks King, Graham King, Griffin King, Andrew King, Corey Kraft, Tony Maestri, Jaycob Adams, and Rhandee Adams; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Tommy King, husband Robert Robinson, brother Richard “Dick” Voll, and her parents Emil and Thurley Voll.
