She was born in Alton, IL to parents Albert and Eva Augusta McCormick (Fessler). Goldie was the youngest of six children, Clyde, Carl, Gladys, Alice, Pearl, and Goldie.
After graduating from Alton High School, Goldie married her high school sweetheart George. George saw her sitting on some steps to a cousin’s house and said he knew that was the girl he was going to marry. At the time, Goldie was 16 years old. When WWII ended and George was honorably discharged from the Navy, George and Goldie married on August 24, 1947.
They had 4 children, David, Judy, Patty, and Steven. The family moved from Alton, IL, to CA where they lived the next 52 years.
On May 8, 2013, George and Goldie lived nearly 5 years with their daughter Judy and husband Stan Nolte, the 4 great grandkids, Chloe, Sabrina, Gabriella, and Wyatt Tischler. Along with grandson Michael Tischler, and dear friend Mary Jo. That made 4 generations all living in one house.
George and Goldie were married 70 years when George passed away on April 29, 2018.
Goldie had a passion for reading, mostly love stories and keeping up on current articles on health, maybe that’s why she lived ‘til 3 months short of 95 years old.
When they were younger, Goldie and George loved to play card games with family and friends. She’d beat the pants off you playing cards. Goldie was quiet and caring. She dearly loved family.
Preceding Goldie in death was her husband George, her parents Albert and Eva McCormick, brothers Clyde McCormick (Evelyn), Carl McCormick (Marion), sisters Gladys Tuchalski (Carl), Alice Cole (Everett), Pearl Brown (Robert), son David Gentry, grandson Cory Tate, and great granddaughter Sabrina Tischler.
Goldie is survived by daughter in law Diana Gentry, daughters Judy Nolte (Stan), Patty Tate (Ken), son Steven Gentry, grandchildren Michael Tischler (Leah) Nicole Creek (James), Kelly Groom (Chad), Kaitie Tate, Christopher Tate, Jeremy Tate, Ryan Tate, great grandchildren Chloe Hughes (Brandon), Gabriella Tischler, Wyatt Tischler, Maia Tischler, and great granddaughter Rianna Tate, great-great grandson Liam Tate, and many nephews and nieces.
Goldie was quiet, kind, caring, and loving. You are with George, David, and the others that have gone before. You are with God; no more pain or sorrow. Now peace and joy take the place of pain and sorrow.
We will always love and cherish you. We’ll see you in Heaven.
