Kerine was born on January 9, 1931 in Liberal, Kansas to George and Mabel (Crile) Schmitt, who are deceased. She and her parents moved to Penrose, Colorado and later to Monte Vista, Colorado in the 1930s. She was a graduate of Rio Grande County High School.
Kerine is survived by Nick L. Bradshaw, whom she married on June 3, 1951. She is also survived by a son, Alan D. Bradshaw and daughter-in-law, Claudia Bradshaw of Kiowa, Colorado; a granddaughter, Emily G. Bradshaw of Aurora, Colorado; and one sister, Thelma Norton of Sun Lakes, Arizona.
Kerine was an Air Force wife from 1951 to 1971. She worked as a hospital receptionist in Bergenfield, New Jersey. She lived in England from 1954 to 1957 where she and her husband toured parts of Great Britain, Holland, France, an Germany. Later, in Bellevue, Nebraska, she served as president of her son’s elementary school PTA and was a member of The Offutaires, a noted Air Force officer’s wives choir. She served a one year term as president of this group. For over 30 years, she served as a volunteer at the Peterson AFB Thrift Shop.
Kerine will be remembered for her many crafts and her love of gardening. Her handmade quilts, pillows, and Raggedy Ann dolls are family heirlooms.
In accordance with Kerine’s wishes, there will be no formal services at this time. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 on Thursday, April 24 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. After cremation, her urn of ashes will be placed in the Garden of Gethsemane in Memorial Gardens.
