Georgene (Jean) R. Olney, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on August 5, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Tucson, Arizona on January 22, 1927. Jean was the third of three children born to the late Lewis and Gladys Campbell.
Jean graduated from Atlantic High School in 1945. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, the late Lynn R. Olney on April 12, 1946. Jean worked for her father at the Atlantic Dairy during her teen years and early 20’s. In 1955, Jean, her husband and two older children settled in Colorado Springs. She worked as a school librarian for Harrison School District 2 for 20 years, until 1990.
Jean had been very active in her church and was a long time member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene. She leaves behind to cherish her memories loving children, Lynn L. Olney (Sharon), and Paul F. Olney (Kerri) both of Colorado Springs, Kathryn A. (Olney) Schisler (Everett) of Pueblo West, CO and Janet O. (Olney) Hon (C. Brett) of St. Simons Island, GA; precious grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a host of wonderful nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Lynn and their firstborn Richard Kent, sister, Helen Keller, brother, Everett Campbell and her parents.
Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 9 am, Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs. Officiating is Rev. Alan Scott.
Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, following the service and reception.
