89, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away June 17, 2021. George was born September 12, 1931 in Grayling, Michigan to George and Ardis Wendt. He was 6th out of 10 children and was raised on a farm. Upon graduating High School George enlisted in the U. S. Army and was stationed at Camp Carson in Colorado Springs, where he then met and married the love of his life, Patricia J. O’Rourke in 1953. They had 4 children.
George did tours in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. He retired after 20 years of service in 1970, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer II, and later worked in law enforcement and civil service positions.
George enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, flying, and obtained his pilot’s license. He also possessed a great sense of humor.
George was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church for over 40 years. He was a warrior for God and he loved the Lord.
George is survived by his 4 children, Paula Wendt, Linda Neasbitt, Diana Tavernier and Michael Wendt; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife of 64 years, Patricia; and 2 grandchildren, Jordan Tavernier and Meaghan Wendt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 10:00-10:30am with service to follow at 10:30am both at Heritage Pentecostal Church, 2950 Monica Drive W., Colorado Springs, CO 80916. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
