George was born in Vinton, Iowa in 1943 to George “Dewey” Morris Sr. and Mildred Irene (Deerfield) Morris. He graduated from Center Point High School in 1962. In 1963, George enlisted in the United States Air Force. In the first year of his enlistment, George volunteered for a special deployment to Vietnam and then went on to serve his country for 23 years as a graphic illustrator. His military assignments included Offutt AFB, Andersen AFB, Andrews AFB, Wheeler AFB and finally Peterson AFB where George retired as a Master Sergeant.
When George was stationed at Offutt AFB, he met the love of his live, Diane Mary Pietig. George and Diane were married for 55 loving years.
George fell in love with Colorado and chose to retire in Colorado Springs after his Air Force career. He loved taking long drives with Diane, the mountains, tinkering in his workshop, woodworking, cruising the neighborhood on his lawn mower and making beautiful pens. He could sit and watch the mountains for hours and could tell you a little bit about everyone who lived on his street. He had a soft place in his heart for all animals but especially loved all of the dogs who found their way into his home over the years.
At 79 years of age, George left this world suddenly on May 13, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents George Dewey Morris Sr. and Mildred Irene (Deerfield) Morris; his siblings Charles, Virginia, Dale, John, Della and Robert (Bob).
