George Washington Adair, Sr. passed away on May 31, 2011 unexpectedly during a medical procedure. George was born to James and Rebecca Adair in Delbarton, West Virginia on February 12, 1925. George joined the US Navy and proudly served in World War II and was stationed at Pearl Harbor. George married the love of his life, Joyce Vera Chapman on October 21, 1946. George retired as a Tool & Jig Operator from McDonald Douglas in Huntington Beach, California. He was a member of the Southern Home Old Regular Baptist Church in Sparr, Florida. George was loved by all who knew and loved him and he will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
George was preceded in death by his loving wife Joyce Vera Chapman; son, George W. Adair, Jr.; parents, James & Rebecca (Grubb) Adair; stepfather, Carlos Grubb; brothers, Tommy, Albert, Henry and Johnny Adair, Clarence Grubb and sister’s Nancy Rowlands and Maudie Mahorn.
George is survived by his daughters, Carole Puelo and Rita (Drew) Funderburk of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his son Bruce (Glenda) Menifee of California as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held on June 6, 2011 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The Funeral Service will follow the Visitation at 12:00pm. Elder Stanley Campbell will be officiating. All will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
