Gene Edward Burkhart

He was born on October 23, 1930 to James and Irene Burkhart and had 5 siblings, Mary Drake, Virginia Fisk, Donald Burkhart, Vivian Borifield and Michael Burkhart. Gene graduated from Stroud High School. He married Akiko Burkhart on January 28, 1958 and together they had 2 children, Donna Diana Andersen and Gene Edward Burkhart, Jr.

Gene served in the United States Army and worked with the City of Colorado Springs.

He loved to work on older cars and play golf.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. He is survived by his wife Akiko Burkhart, his two children Diana Andersen (Jay) and Eddie Burkhart (Christina), his six grandchildren Marissa (Drew) Strum, Lindsey (John) Gunther, Kyle Andersen, Kristin Eyl, Brittany (Eric) Lama and Brandon Burkhart, his six great grandchildren Kaylee, Payton, Aubri, Kinley, Tristan and Emery plus many nephews and nieces.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
