Frank Darrel Guy passed away quietly at the age of 94 in Colorado Springs,
Colorado on Thursday November 24, 2011.
Frank was born on December 7th, 1916 in Seibert, Colorado to Joseph S. and
Cora A. (Cruickshank) Guy. At the age of four, Frank's family moved from
Eastern Colorado to the Eastonville/Falcon area, moving to Colorado
Springs in his teens.
Frank joined the Armed Forces in December 1941 serving in the 32nd
Infantry Division, the famed "Red Arrow" unit, and was among the first
regiment ever airlifted into a battle zone to Port Morseby, New Guinea.
Frank returned home a disabled veteran, marrying Audrey May Stone on
December 8th, 1945. They were married 55 years.
After leaving the military in 1945 he worked for Denver Equipment
Company and Transit Mix Company prior to starting the Frank Guy Fence
Company in 1956. He sold his company and he and Audrey retired to
Florence, Colorado in 1977, where they remained until Audrey's death in
2000. Frank returned to Colorado Springs to be near his daughter.
Frank remained an active member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans
of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. On January 27, 1956 he became
a founding member of the Pikes Peak Group, living 55 years of sobriety.
His hobbies included bowling, building, planting, and creating yard art. He
was a clever man who could fix anything.
Frank is survived by his daughter W. Jean Foran, son Frank II, 8
grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brother, Pete and several nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, son-in-law
Larry, daughter, Delores, and three brothers.
Memorial Service will be held at Memorial Gardens on December 7th at 2pm. Reception following the service
"God, I offer myself to Thee - to build with me and to do with - as Thou
wilt."
