Evelyn was born on June 22, 1962 in Long Beach, California. Her family relocated to Dillon, Montana in 1976, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Don. They were married August 21, 1982 and embarked on a twenty five year adventure with the military that took them from Montana to Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii, ending in Colorado. During this time, she spent over twenty years as a Dental Assistant before opening D&E Hunts in 2006 with her husband.
Evelyn loved spending her time at the beach in the sunshine, but most of all with her family. She was a devoted mother and wife who brightened every room she entered. She exhibited rarely seen strength & grace in the face of a complex medical history with myelofibrosis and ovarian cancer. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, attention to detail, infectious sense of humor, and warm embrace. She will forever be the heart of her family.
She leaves behind to cherish and honor her memory, husband, Don M. Schwandt; daughters, Ann (Allen) Porter and Amy Schwandt; furbaby, Cubella; mother, Rita Rannus; siblings, Liz, Stephanie, and Noreen; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Rannus; brother, Michael Rannus; nephew, Elias Villanueva; and furbabies, Daisy and Buffy.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at the University of Colorado Foundation at P.O 17126, Denver, Colorado, 80217.
