She was the daughter of the late Norman and Lenora Talley. She was a devout Christian and
lived a life of service to others. She exhibited a giving spirit and was always ready to lend a
helping hand or share an encouraging word to those in need.
Her passion for academic excellence was culminated by obtaining her Master of Social Work
degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Armed with her degree, she
dedicated her life to improving the living experience of people in state hospitals, prisons,
medical centers, family clinics and church. She marched to the tune of her own drum and
inspired her sons to dream boldly and grow into strong men of honor. She was always
encouraging in-spite of the calamities that life storms will bring. And thus, she modeled an
indomitable spirit in her life’s journey to carry on until God calls you home. She had a radiant
smile and buoyant laugh that would warm your soul. Her eyes were as resolute with conviction
and passion as they were brown.
Eunice departed earth on November 30, 2020. She was surrounded by her children and family
members virtually and at bedside in her eldest son’s, Phillip James Thomas, home in Fountain,
Colorado. It was a blessing to participate in her transition from earth to Heaven that early
winter morning. It seemed the moonlight illuminated more radiantly in the sky when she was
summoned home.
She was surely greeted by her parents, her brother Charles Lanier, late son Paul Donavan
Thomas and husband US Army LTC Phillip James Thomas. She is survived by her two
brothers Calvin Talley and Gene Talley. She now accompanies God’s angels watching over her
three sons, Phelan Dewayne Thomas, Patrick Bruce Thomas and Phillip James Thomas II.
Along with her brothers and three sons, Eunice is survived by many beloved nieces and
nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and numerous
relatives and friends.
The Thomas family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to everyone for their acts of
love, kindness and thoughtfulness. We pray that God grants us all peace during this
challenging season in life.
We look forward to having a memorial for Eunice Marie Talley next year with all friends and
family that may attend when the Covid-19 pandemic resolves. In lieu of flowers and in line with
our mother’s wishes, we ask that donations are sent to your local Catholic Charities
Organization in her name to support families in need.
