Edulia Garcia, 93, of Colorado Springs, passed away on March 19, 2011. Edulia was born on December 31, 1917 in San Luis Valley, Colorado to the late Antonio and Vivian (Martinez) Valdez. She attended grade school and worked as a housekeeper from a young age. On February 17, 1944, Edulia married Acorcinio Garcia in San Luis Valley and together had twelve children.
Edulia was a gregarious woman. People gravitated to her and she always had a lot of friends. She enjoyed crafts, traveling, ceramic painting, playing cards, embroidery, dancing, singing to her favorite songs, participating in Silver Key activities, spending time with her family (all five generations!) and enjoying the company of her pet birds and dog, Scruffy.
Edulia is survived by her children, Rudy (Abbie) Garcia, Cecilia (Moses) Pacheco, Ralph (Mary) Garcia, Acorcinio Garcia, Jr.; Geno Garcia, Johnny (Cora) Garcia, Eleanor Garcia, JoAnn Garcia and Leona (Raphael) Milan. She is also survived by her son in law, Robert and several grandchildren. She is preceded in death her son, Max Garcia; daughters, Anna Marie and Dolores; daughter in law, Bernice and two grandsons.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Swan Law Funeral Directors with a Rosary service at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 24, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
