Dorothy Blanche Griffith, 81, of Colorado Springs, passed from this life on Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was born in New Sharon, Iowa on July 14, 1933 to the late Robert Boyd and Blanche Marie Gregory. Dorothy moved to the Ohio and Michigan area in the mid-1950’s where she raised her family. In 1984, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be close to the beautiful Rocky Mountains she loved. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Warren, Paul and Donald (her twin) and a sister, Clara Arleyne Farrand, and granddaughter Kimberly Gerard.
Dorothy is survived by two sisters: Elsie Miner of Montezuma, IA and Ruth Sutherland of Swanton, OH. She is also survived by her eight children: Christy Gerard Wilbanks (Mike) of Jonesboro, AR; Donald L. Griffith, Sr. (Claire) of Rochester Hills, MI; Pamela Doll (Steve) of Colorado Springs, CO; Dennis Griffith of Colorado Springs, CO; Jack Griffith (Corinne) of Gilbert, AZ; Richard “Andy” Griffith (Deena) of Colorado Springs, CO; Lori Parman (Rob) of Kirkersville, OH; Kenny Griffith (Debbie) of Maumee, OH; and Heather Griffith of Colorado Springs, CO; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of the Springs First Church of the Nazarene in Colorado Springs. She hosted many Bible studies and Friday night dinners with her friends. Her favorite pastimes included playing canasta and her Bible study groups. Her real passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending as many events as she could.
There will be a Memorial Service held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Springs First Church of the Nazarene with Chaplain Lawrence Fenton officiating and Swan-Law Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
