Dori is survived by her three children Bryan (Karen), Brenda (Best Friend Jack), Brad (Tammy) Bales. Seven grand children Batrice, Joey, Chris, Cody, Brittany, Dakota, Nathan. Seventeen great grand children Gabriel, Sheyenne, Nevaeh, Kasey, Andrew, Rilee, Caley, Nia, Rhea, Damon, Lyra, Braven, Peyton, Elise, Hailey, Caleb and Morgan as well as numerous nieces and nephews, plus many friends. Doris loved them all with all her heart.
Doris is proceeded in death by her husband Marvin D. Bales and parents Walter & Leona Schipporeit, three sisters Bernice, Nona, Louise, great grand daughter Savannah and niece Stacey.
After her family moved to Manitou in 1943, she attended Manitou Schools and graduated in 1954. Dori, attended Blair College after High School and also became a stewardess for a time.
Dori worked in her parents restaurant “Kenny’s Cafe” at the age of 8 where she found the love of working in the restaurant industry. While growing up she kept the love for the profession. Dori married Marvin D. Bales on October 3, 1959 and they owned and operated two restaurants “Shopper's Grill” from 1964 to 1970 then also “Dories Restaurant and Lounge” from 1976 to 1980. Dori continued to work as a waitress at many restaurants. Dori retired after 24 years at TREA.
Dori loved Manitou and Colorado Springs area, she loved camping, fishing, horse back riding at Rainbow Falls. She also enjoyed going to Cripple Creek with her husband Marvin and many other things like dancing, gardening and yard work. Dori most of all loved spending time with her family.
