He was born on December 2, 1927, in Paulding, Ohio.
Don graduated from Paulding High School in 1945.
In 1946 he enlisted in the Army, attended cryptology school, and was stationed in Japan during WWII in counterintelligence. He was honorably discharged in 1947. Then Don moved to Washington D.C. to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the fingerprint identification section.
Don married Pearleen Marie Timbrook on December 30, 1953, in Auburn, Indiana. They were married for 68 years. After moving to Colorado, they raised four children.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado A and M, now called Colorado State University, in Fort Collins. Don was employed by the Colorado Division of Wildlife as a Fish Biologist from 1955-1987. Then he worked for Avis Car Rental for 16 years.
Don is survived by his brother, Victor Wurm; four children, Theresa (Dennis) Bray, Brenda Byrnes, Charlene (Michael) Sheldon, and Carl Wurm; three grandchildren, Jessica Bray, Matthew Bray, Allison Poulin; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearleen (Sandy) Marie Wurm; parents, Victor Urban Wurm and Martha Caroline Wurm, sisters Rosemary Elenor Wurm, Katherine Christine Wurm, and Carolyn Wurm; brothers Vincent Robert Wurm, Paul Raymond Wurm, and Charles Richard Wurm; and daughter-in-law Marcia Wurm.

A private family memorial service will be held for Donald at Memorial Garden Cemetery and Funeral Home, Colorado Springs, CO.
