After spending early years in Hastings, she graduated from the University of Nebraska, go Huskers! Dolores was married to James Liggett on February 6, 1954. She met Jim on a blind date in Pueblo, Colorado where she was starting her student teaching semester. They wrote letters, as Jim was in the Air Force at the time, and after a short courtship they married. Dolores had a beautiful wedding and they were transferred shortly after to Phoenix Airbase for two years. Dolores became active in the Officer’s Wives Club. After a long-devoted marriage Jim preceded her in death in 1995.
She loved entertaining, crafts, stained glass work, dancing, golf, Mahjong and socializing with friends. She had a great sense of humor. She played piano and sang well in many choirs. After many adventures and duty stations, they retired and built their dream home in Monument, CO in the pine trees of Woodmoor. She and Jim traveled in their fifth wheel and camped all over the United States. After retiring they spent their cold Colorado winters in Arizona. She attended the Church of Woodmoor, played the handbells and sang in the choir. She loved flowers and gardening, wildlife, and all animals. She loved spending time with her family and watching the great-grandchildren play.
She is survived by her only child, Mark Liggett and his wife Susan, by 4 grandchildren, Justin (Danielle), Scott, Amy (Mark) and Heather (David) and soon to be 10 great-grandchildren.
We will greatly miss her as she enjoys her eternal life in Heaven, hand in hand with Jim.
