She was born March 5, 1953 to David and Muriel Wood in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Dede attended Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated in 1971. She then attended the University of New Mexico graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Later she attended the Colorado Springs campus of the University of Colorado earning an MBA as well as a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology.
Dede worked at the University of New Mexico as a Pediatric ICU nurse. After moving to Colorado, she worked at Memorial Hospital as a Newborn ICU nurse and later as an adult nurse. She also was a personal trainer as well as a yoga instructor.
Dede loved the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends including the Dying Swans. Flakes, and the Knitters. She loved the out of doors, sports and exercise. She hiked, ran, biked, golfed, skied, lifted weights and sailed, but her passion was dance, ballet in particular.
Dede is survived by her husband Dr. William W. Freedman MD., son Christopher A. Freedman of Aurora, Colorado, her sister Pamela Beske and bother-in-law Thomas Beske of Colorado Springs as well as nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Worship Center at 501 Castle Road in Colorado Springs on January 29, 2022 at 10 AM.
