Diane L. Cameron, 76, passed away peacefully May15th at Penrose Hospital after nearly a year long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 35 years James R. Cameron, sons Steven Beatty of Las Vegas, NV and David Beatty of Rancho Bernardo, CA, daughters-in-law Hilde Beatty and Kristen Beatty, and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Cameron was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in Education. She was a school teacher in Des Moines, before deciding to stay home with her children when they were young. She was very active with the Junior League of Des Moines.
After remarrying and moving to Colorado Springs, she served as an executive at the Chemins Company. She was a proud active member of the Broadmoor Community Church for 35 years, playing in their bell choir and serving on various committees and boards. She was a member of the Colorado Springs Liquor Control Board during the 1980s.
Mrs. Cameron was fortunate to have many, many friends. She was known to exude love and make people feel good, meeting every situation with a smile and her trademark laugh. She traveled the world with her beloved husband Jim. They visited places such as Cuba, Italy, Ireland, Russia, France, Holland and many other places around the United States and the world. She loved entertaining and hosted many parties for friends and business guests.
She was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren, attending their school activities, baseball and softball games and graduations.
A celebration of her life will be held at Broadmoor Community Church at 3 pm on May 24.
Attendees of that service will be invited to further celebrate her life at the Broadmoor Hotel at 4:30.
