Dennis was born March 2, 1944 in Colorado Springs to Paul and Ruth Laughren. He was one of three brothers. Growing up in Colorado Springs, he attended Palmer High School.
Dennis graduated from the University of Denver with a B.S.B.A. in hotel and restaurant management. He then joined the army, first attending Officer Candidate School. He met his wife Mary at Fort Carson, and they married June 15th, 1968, just before he deployed to Vietnam. After returning from overseas, they had two children, a son, Dennis Jr., and daughter, Shawn.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard. He is survived by his wife Mary, his children, Dennis(Melissa) and Shawn(Richard), and brother David, and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs on October 19, 2024 at 11am, with Military Honors and a reception to follow.
