Dennis Harvey Krueger, 91, promoted home to heaven April 2nd, 2022, in Canon City, Colorado. Denny was born in Hurley, South Dakota on May 17th, 1930. In his younger years he enjoyed raccoon and fox hunting with his father.
Denny was married to Elsie Nelson on January 29th, 1954, in Fairmont, Minnesota. In January of this year, they celebrated 68 years of marriage. Family was very important to him. Denny and Elsie had two children, Gary and Sharie. While raising a family, Denny enjoyed boating, fishing, snowmobiling, horse racing, refurbishing cars, woodworking and playing pool. Denny was neat and very meticulous about his woodworking, yard and cars.
Denny started working for 3M (Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing) in 1947 at the age of 16. He was drafted by the U. S. Army in 1951 and made Sergeant in 6 months. During his time in the army, he served in the Korean Conflict. Upon his release from the U. S. Army, Denny returned to employment at 3M where he was promoted to Shipping and Receiving Foreman, overseeing all items coming into and leaving the Minnesota location. Denny ended his working career with 3M on July 30, 1988, with 41 years of service.
Denny and Elsie relocated to Canon City, Colorado in August of 1996 where he continued to do his woodworking and playing pool. Denny had an appreciation for eagles and had acquired quite a collection of them in the form of statues, knives, lamps, belts, pictures, etc. In his later years Denny developed COPD, hearing loss and macular degeneration which made it difficult to have a quality life. On April 2nd, 2022, Denny lost his life due to complications of a tumor in his colon.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ella Krueger, son Gary and 5 of his 6 siblings. He is survived by his wife Elsie, daughter Sharie Flanagan of Monument, Colorado and grandson Brandon Krueger of Denver, Colorado.
