To know Deanna was to love her. A gentle soul, she was full of love and positivity, traits that were obvious to all after just a single encounter. She lived a full and adventurous life, raising her family and supporting her husband Mark’s Army career across more than 15 states and 3 continents.
From skydiving in Australia, to hosting foreign dignitaries in her home in Hawaii, to earning her nursing degree as a mother of two, her life was one of hard work, dedication to her family, and an outsized appreciation for new experiences. Deanna’s insatiable appetite for learning and exploring took her around the world, where she collected friends, countless photos, and priceless keepsakes.
After a life spent traveling and Mark’s retirement from the Army, the couple settled in Colorado Springs, CO, where they spent winters skiing at some of their favorite resorts, and summers on the road hiking, camping, and visiting loved ones. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who were a source of great joy and strength in difficult times.
She thrived when entertaining neighbors, co-workers, and friends in her home, where all who entered felt welcome and included.
The Patterson family is thankful for the exceptional care she received from the team at Centura St. Francis Hospital, where Deanna worked as a registered nurse, sharing her light and positivity with patients and colleagues alike.
Deanna is survived by her parents, Ralph and Elizabeth, her brother, Ralph Jr., her husband, Mark, her sons, Chris (Jen) and Justin (Amy), her five grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and an abundance of friends. She will be forever loved and fondly remembered.
Services will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 on November 16th, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. A reception celebrating Deanna’s life will follow.
The family invites guests to wear bright colors in honor of her love of all things bright and beautiful.
