David (Dave) Lee Valentine, longtime Colorado resident, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs with family and Angels of the Lord by his side.
David was born in Shenandoah, Iowa, on Jan. 2, 1958, to Vincent D. Valentine and Dorothy P. Seigfreid. In 1958 David was the first baby of the New Year born at Hand Community Hospital.
David graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1976. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. David worked as a mechanic, in manufacturing and as a security officer.
David never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, hunting and camping.
David is survived by his mother, Dorothy Seigfreid of Loveland, Colo.; his father, Vince Valentine of Shenandoah, Iowa; his sister, Janice Page and her husband Howard of Black Forest, Colo.; his brother, Roy Seigfreid and wife KC of Bloomingdale, Ill.; Stepbrothers Royal McCollum (Debbie) of Villisca, IA and Tom McCollum (Barbara) of Coin, Iowa; Stepsisters Susan Barnes (Jeff Knutson) of Walnut, IA and Lorrie Beck (Fred Mundell) of Wamego, KS; nephews Michael Oakes and Mark (Jamie) Oakes of Independence, Mo., and Bradley Seigfreid of Chicago, Ill.; niece, Kim Seigfreid of Washington, D.C.; and great-nieces Ashley Oakes, Natalie and Samantha Oakes of Independence, Mo.
David is survived by two Aunts, Mae Miller of Stanton, Iowa, and Jean Snow of Shenandoah, Iowa. David is also survived by many other nieces and nephews, cousins and friends from around the United States.
David is preceded in death by his paternal Grandparents, Ada and Loyd Valentine; maternal Grandparents, Eugene and Pearl Bryant; Stepfather, Arnold Seigfreid and Stepmother Doris Valentine.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life is planned for a later date in Iowa.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Suite 600, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
David's family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Pikes Peak Hospice for making his final days filled with peace and love.
