My family and I lived in Colorado Springs from 1994 to 2009. 
When our 3 children were young, we looked for an AWANA’s club for them to attend and found one at the church Pastor Ron was at. 
Every week, we drove about 30 minutes to get them to AWANA. 
Although we were members of another church, Pastor Ron and Darla made us feel welcome and like family. 
In time, the kids outgrew AWANA, but we have NEVER forgotten the grace and kindness of Ron and Darla Petty. 
I can’t wait to see them again soon in the beautiful place Christ has prepared for those who love Him.

Was watching the memorial service today of Tom Salomon and Robbie told me he was Darla Petty’s father.  Looked her up on facebook today August 15th, only to see Darla had passed away in June.  We are so saddened to learn of this.  Darla was such a sweet person and I know she will be greatly missed by family and friends.  Till we meet again in our heavenly home.  Starla and Robbie Black

Mr. Ron Petty and family my deepest condolences. Darla and I worked together and she will be missed at the store. Specially when I would walk into the store and Darla was there and it was a crazy morning. She would give me the crazy look and tell me turn around and run. We would both laugh and she would keep working. Also she would always tell me "I'll give you the fan if I can turn my light off"and once again we laughed. I'll miss the laughter Mrs.Darla but you are sharing a laugh with the most hight know.

Ron and family, and to the Salmon family,  Darla and I went to high school together and she always had such a bright personality.  Her mother and dad were also so special.  I remember parties at her home and how gracious her Mom, Darlene was.  I am so sorry for your loss.  May your memories bring you peace.  Her smile will always be remembered.  I am so sad.   Our prayers are with you and yours.

Darla,   I will miss you so very much!
  You were always so good to my sons Brian and Robert Arrand .
     I always enjoyed coming into the Dollar Tree where you worked,  and talk with you. You always had a smile on your face even when you were not feeling so well.

Darla and I were friends in High School.  She always had a wonderful smile and positive attitude.  Her Mom, Darleen was delightful as are her sisters.  The entire Salmon family is special.   I express my deepest sympathy to Ron, Matthew, Philip and Merrie and the Salmon family.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Darla was such a beautiful woman inside and out. Every time I saw her she truly made my day and I absolutely loved working with her over the last 6 years.  At work she took a lot of pride in everything she did and it showed. She was one of my favorite people to share good news about my life with as she was always so interested and encouraging. Though I do not personally know her children, I know how much she loved them all. She would often smile and tell me stories about them from their careers to memories of them being young children. I was blessed to have shared many memories and countless smiles with Darla and I will miss her immensely.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family. 

I'll always remember Darla Kay taking us riding around with her to the hamburger stand or to get ice cream whenever we visited.  She never acted as though we might be in the way.  It was so fun to be included in her "grownup" activities.  The last time I saw her we had pizza together as well as great memory sharing.  I know she is in the best place imagined with her mom,  grandparents, aunts, uncles and everyone she loved who went on before her.  We can only be happy for her.  For all of the family, we continue to send warm thoughts and prayers that you always find comfort in the memories you shared.  We love you all.


Ron, my heart is heavy today as I share in your grief.  I wish I could do for you as you have done for me.   Your visits with me in my hours of sadness meant the world to me.   Oh that I could help you in your hour of loss.  Darla is a wonderful part of your life and I am so greatful that you shared her stories with me.  Ron please move forward knowing that Darla is home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus The Christ.  

Sharing our early lives together in the small community of Security Colorado shaped our lives in ways we could not fully appreciate until we were far removed from that special time in our lives. Ron and Darla were pivotal in helping many of us to reconnect with those early innocent times. We share your grief and your loss and we pray that the many memories you have of Darla will be a blessing for you and your family In the days to come. Our heartfelt sympathy to all of you.

From the whole Scheiler family we are so sorry for the loss of Darla. She was always so sweet to our Jessica at work.
