Consuelo (Chello) Gomez Garcia, departed our world on September 27, 2018. She left peacefully in her sleep as her spirit was transported to heaven and into the presence of the God, The Father. There she was greeted in love by her family members who preceded her in death. She was a life-long resident of Pueblo. She was born September 29, 1925 in Raton, New Mexico to Aurelio and Bodicia Gomez. She shared her life with 11 siblings and countless extended family members in the proud community of Salt Creek. Upon her first marriage to Ernest Casados a humble and happy home was established in Pueblo’s east side. In that home she raised two Sons, Andrew and Anthony C. Casados. She was a loving, hard working Mother and homemaker for much of her life. She was known for her abilities in the kitchen where she created some of the most nurturing delicious traditional Mexican meals. Homemade tortillas, tamales, green chili, enchiladas, empanadas, and biscochitos and list goes on. She was also known for being hard on her pots and pans which were characterized by burned bottoms and lots of wear and tear. For her, the pots and pans were just a means to an end.
What she will be remembered for the most, is that she was a woman of deep faith always praying and confessing her love for Jesus. Chello showed her love by serving others, sometimes sacrificially. Her heart was as big as the house in which she raised her children and grandchildren. Those of us who knew her, knew she would do anything for a friend or family member. She never spoke a harsh word or judgement toward anyone, she always saw the good in everyone. Her spirit was sweet and her motives pure.
Chello is survived by her sister Lucy Lizardi and her son Anthony C. Casados, by her beloved grandchildren: Steven, A.J., and Dakota Casados as well as Andrew’s children, Che, Andrew and Andrea Casados, Tammy Gallegos, her great-grandchildren Jessica, Amanda and Alisa along with a huge extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the South West. We will remember her with love and affection. She will be missed especially for her love, devotion, caring and warm smile. Her service to others will inspire us to love and serve one another.
