Paul commanded A Company when I was the commander of B Company in 1st Bn, 70th Armor at Ft Carson in '74-'76.  I always had such great respect for his integrity, faith, and his love of the Army and his soldiers.  So glad I got to see him again at a 70th Armor reunion in Colorado Springs several years ago!  Paul was truly a servant leader in the Army and for our Lord and Savior.   We shall meet again dear Brother-in-Arms AND Brother-in-Christ!

I was in his command 1\33 AR BN my first assignment in the Army He was everything a young soldier wanted to be. We were so proud to serve under him. We always knew he would be exactly who should be in command if the "balloon went up"
I knew, as all the other soldiers did that we were lucky to be in his care. May God Bless You and Keep you, as You did your men.

Colonel Bateman was an inspiration to me when he Commanded the 1/33 Armor BN and I was the X0 of Delta CO. What a leader and teacher. God speed sir!

Kerry, Megan and Sean;   please accept the condolences of the Troopers of the 11th Armored Cavalry's veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia.  Your father was a dedicated and courageous warrior, and for a crucial time, became one of us, one of our own. He served honorably and faithfully with the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment, with both A Troop and C Troop in 1969 and 1970: he was a born leader.  With his direct, as well as tactical control, he was in the fore front, as the regiment completed its mission throughout large areas of Vietnam.   Vincent's name will be published in our newsletter, Thunder Run, acknowledged solemnly during the Memorial Service at our annual reunion, this year in Grand Rapids, and enrolled on the scroll with our honored dead.  As grateful Americans, we pause and salute a brave man who was willing to sacrifice, and even put his life on the line for his God and Country (PRO DEO ET PATRIA) , his family and his fellow man. It is with humility, honor, and respect that I render a sad farewell Salute to my Fellow Soldier, Kindred Company Commander of A Company, 1st Battalion, 70th Army Regiment, and Fellow G-3 General Staff Officers, all at Fort Carson, Colorado 1974 to 1977.
Farewell Paul, and may Our Lord Jesus carry you to a Heavenly Home that you have earned through your faith, service to country, and service to your Community.

My sympathies to the Baerman family. COL Baerman was a great leader. He was my second battalion commander (1-33 Armor) and was shining example of great leadership. My wife likes to tell the story of when LTC Baerman gathered all the wives at the chapel on Coleman Kaserne. He explained and simulated the procedures for a tank going downrange for gunnery. He was a good man. The world will miss him.

I served with COL Baerman during my time in Gelnhausen with 1-33 Armor. No other Battalion Commander had as much positive impact on my career as he did. He was also a leader to emulate and had a killer sense of humor. I salute  him on his way to "Fiddlers Green".

Dear Kerry and Family-
How well I remember our great year together at Ft. Leavenworth- where Paul shined as always as leader, student, athlete and friend.  There was never a doubt in anyone's mind he was destined for stars.  It was a real shame that his health sidetracked that- the Army's loss.  
I gather you both enjoyed your many years in Colorado- I know he was treasured, respected by classmates and friends there.

So very sorry to hear about Col. Baerman. I served under him in Gelnhausen, Germany. He was the best Battalion Commander. He was a great leader that all of us looked up to. It was an honor and a privilege to serve with, and under him. 

Oh, Miss Kerry, I'm so sorry for your loss.  Many, many loves hugs and prayers for you and your family.  I have thought about you two often; such fond memories of our "First Visitor!"  May God bless you, hold you and provide strength and comfort.  Always.

Sincere condolences to Kerry and the Baerman family.  I always enjoyed your many visits to my office over the years.  Paul was a great guy.
