On Tuesday April 13, 2021, Charles Matteson, husband and father of seven, passed away at the age of 74. Charlie was born in 1946 in Providence, Rhode Island to George A. Matteson Jr. and Rose G. Matteson. He attended Holderness School in Holderness, New Hampshire, and then earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree at Colorado College, in Colorado Springs. He went on to finish his masters in Geology at the University of Alaska, in Fairbanks. He married Georgia H. Matteson in the Colorado College chapel in 1969. They went on to raise seven children, three boys and four girls.
Charlie spent his early career in the backwoods of Alaska and Colorado mapping drainages and scouting mineral deposits. He had a great fondness for the critters that roamed these areas. Charlie loved carting his kids to various sporting activities and horse shows. He had an amazing, dry, hilarious wit that touched people in the best and worst of times.
Charlie is survived by his wife Georgia, his seven children and their spouses, Paul and Jim, Chad and Tiffany, Ian and Joy, Haley and Scott, Sydney, Callie, and Nellie, three grandchildren, Natalia, Christina, Lily, his brother Geo and wife Adele, and their son Evan
