He is survived by his three children Jean Markl (husband - Luke Reuter), Deborah Markl (husband - Scott Quinn) and David Markl (wife - Catherine Markl). He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Markl, sister Mary Cardozo, and brothers Francis Markl, George Markl and James Markl.
Chuck was born Charles William Markl on September 30, 1930 to Frank and Leona Markl in Jefferson Wisconsin. He attended school in Watertown, Wisconsin and then St Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.
After finishing college Chuck joined the Army as a Second Lieutenant starting his 22 years of traveling and serving in many US and international locations. Having caught the travel bug he and his wife Ginny continued to travel to visit friends and their children that lived in different states and foreign countries until her death in 2014. For many years they even traveled across the US in a motorhome seeing the sites.
After retirement from the military Chuck worked with a friend to build and refinish furniture before going back to work for the military as a civilian. He was the range control office at Fort Carson for almost 20 years before retiring a second time from government service.
He had many hobbies throughout his life to include hunting, fishing, watching football (Packers and Broncos), and caning chairs. He enjoyed working with wood and building things. He was very proud of the house he lived in that he built with the help of two friends.
Chuck loved cars and was a life time member of the Tri-Lake Cruisers. He was a lifelong car enthusiast starting in HS when he worked at the local garage fixing cars. His 1965 Mustang convertible, that he fully restored, was his pride and joy.
