Carol will forever be remembered as a loving, compassionate, and amazing woman who dedicated herself to her family, friends and causes she cared deeply about. She had a resilient spirit even as a young child contracting the polio virus and throughout her life facing numerous challenges with grace. Carol succumbed to Alzheimer's Disease and spent her final years in the amazing care of her memory care home and hospice care.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Kristie Peterson Hammar and Spouse, Karen Peterson Lewandowski and Spouse, and Lisa Peterson Neil and Spouse. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren.
Carol is also survived by her sisters Evelyn (Dean) Nystrom and Mary (Dean) Brunette and their families. Carol is preceded in death by her father John Dean and mother Adele (Foerster) Dean.
Carol's professional life consisted of her initial career as a registered dietician and finishing her professional career after going back to school in accounting. Carol worked for Colorado Springs Neurological Associates as an accountant/controller until her retirement in addition to countless volunteering opportunities primarily with Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Benet Hill Monastery. Carol shared her gifts and talents and exuded love and compassion with everyone she interacted with. She was highly regarded for her professionalism and dedication in all she did and will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Mass for Carol will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80904. Please join us in honoring Carol's life and remembering the impact she had on those around her.
Carol will be privately laid to rest at St. Benedict Cemetery at Benet Hill Monastery, 3190 Benet Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80921.
In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association or Benet Hill Monastery.
