Beverly Grace Samson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Syracuse, New York on August 7, 1929, the third of three children born to the late Emil Roehrig and Frieda Lena (Lee) Foster.
Beverly graduated from the University of Houston Nursing School in 1950 and worked as a Registered Nurse for 25 years for the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Houston. Her work at the hospital was demanding and required long hours but she still found time to take wonderful care of her family. Due to the untimely death of her mother when Beverly was only 13 years old, she wanted to be sure she was there for her own family in every way. Beverly taught herself to cook, sew, crochet, knit and garden and was good at everything she set out to accomplish. In her later years, she became an avid player of video and computer games.
After living in Houston, Texas for more than 65 years, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be close to her daughter and grandson. Her son, Mark, moved to Colorado Springs a few years later.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Stuart (Connie) Samson of Laurel, Mississippi; Francine Samson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Mark Samson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Jessica Samson, Josalyn Samson and David (Ali) Samson; her brother, Paul Roehrig and six nieces and nephews. She is now with many other family members who have gone before her, including her husband of 46 years, Frank Samson.
A celebration of her life is planned for June 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
If you wish to make a donation in her memory, please contact either the St. Joseph Indian School, P.O. Box 100, Chamberlain, South Dakota, 57325-0100 ([email protected]) or Amblicab, 5640 N.
