Arletha Lewis, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2021, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Arletha Lewis was born in Arkansas, on October 16, 1935, to Jettie Allen, Sr. and Margarette Faulkner. She married Forest Brown, and from this union, four children were born, Don Brown (Leanna), Sinatra Brown (who preceded her in death), Ronnie Brown (who preceded her in death), and Sondra Guice.
She worked at Zebulon Pike detention Center where she was a cook for over 20 years. She later married Deacon Jack Lewis, who preceded her in death.
Arletha remained a faithful and beloved member of the Original St. John’s Baptist Church, where she served on the “Mother’s Ministry” for many years under the leadership of Bishop-Elect Willie J. Sutton, Jr. until her health would no longer permit her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Don Brown, daughter Sondra Guice, grandchildren Tamica Cutts, Tiana Campbell, Alexander Guice, Charity Plaugher, Ronnie Brown, Jr., Arletha Brown, Tony Brown, Sinatra Brown, and Jasmine Brown, and a host of Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service for Arletha will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 6, 2021 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
