Anthony James Serrao, beloved husband, father, son and brother, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 19th at his home in Black Forest. He was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on July 30, 1975 and has lived in the Colorado Springs area since 2007.
He was a graduate of the Denver Automotive and Diesel College and was a current student at Pikes Peak Community College. He was employed as a diesel mechanic with Wagner Equipment Company.
Anthony, known to his family and friends as A.J., loved the outdoors, skiing with his boys, and sharing Colorado experiences with his family. He had a passion for four-wheeling in his jeep –the muddier the better—a pastime he shared enthusiastically with his wife, Erin, since they began dating in 1997. On the family’s recent trip to Moab, Utah it was evident just how much of this doting father’s passion had rubbed off on their two young boys. Another passion of the Serrao family boys was riding dirt bikes. Much family time was spent by A.J. teaching his sons how to ride and enjoying their time together riding throughout their property in Black Forest.
Anthony leaves behind his devoted wife, Erin, his cherished sons, Casey and Jason, as well as his mother, Janet Serrao, and two older brothers, Joseph and Peter, of New Jersey. His father Joseph Anthony predeceased him.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 26, 2014, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Services will be held at the same location on Monday, January 27, 2014, at 11:00am, with internment to follow at Eastonville Cemetery in Black Forest.
